I need to get some labor times for a 73 Riv Boattail 455-4

I need to change the rear main seal and an oil pan gasket.

None of the books we have at the shop go back that far.

also,I am going to post pics of it tommorrow,it is for sale.

I would hate to think that is all the time I had to do the job.

That is one of the problems with this line of work.If it takes longer, you're screwed.

Jim, "factory time" or dealer warranty time is actually less! On the rear main seal job dealer time is listed at 2.0 hours! ha, try that! :Dou:

But, alot of the time it works in your advantage. Most mechanics are proficient at their job and can usually do the job in the prescribed time or less. Book time does not account for incidental problems like stuck, siezed bolts, rust, etc.. A mechanic that can hustle can book an average of 60+ hours in a 40 hour week. But...live by the sword, die by the sword.
