I always thought the latham was a neat design with no touching parts to compress the air. I think they were limited by inlet volume and overdrive speeds. Cool thing was you could stack the sections to match the engine size. I remember Car Craft or Hot Rod did an article back in the 80's on a 3rd generation Firebird and got it into the 13's which was great for that car at the time.
actually the latham pump company is still in business. they sell pumps for boats and coolant systems for cnc machinery. we sell their coolant systems for machines.$$$
