The instructions for my new leak-down gauge suggests bringing the engine up to temp before perfoming the tests. My engine is on the stand.

How much will this effect my readings and is there a work around?

    Thanks in advance:(

David a leak down test wont really tell you much about an engine that you just finnished putting together after a rebuild. If it's an engine that has already been broken in then the leak down test shouldn't be off by more than a couple percent if that, if the engine is cold compared to when it's hot. These are just my thoughts on the subject so take it for what it's worth.

    good

The engine is actually an untouched 70K mile skylark motor.

I want to identify what this engine needs (or doesn't). A new cam is slated along with some home grown head porting.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it" is my mission statement for this project. I've ignored it in the past and have learned some hard lessons.

    Thanks for the replies!:TU:
