When I painted my 72 skylark, I did not use the original decklid The new one leaks on the right side close to the rear glass. The factory tech manual says to insert a spacer between the deck lid and the hinge face. seems to me that any time you put a spacer between the deck lid and the hinge it will raise the deck lid????? I can't figure it out. Ken

If you put a shim between the hinge and the deck on the very end (away from the hinge) it will lower the deck lid.

I've never seen a deck lid leak if there's a new gasket, almost always the back window leaking......

Put some baby powder on the weatherstripping and close the deck lid. Then open it and look for baby powder on the deck lid. You should be able to pin point your leak that way. I bet you already know that !

Ken, did you replace the gasket? I replaced mine and suddenyl had a leak- the weld under the gasket isn't water tight on my car and it seems the gasket sealer had sealed it up. I can't find the gap to save my life and now I get water in the trunk with a new gasket :Dou:

Looks like we have the same taste in Buicks :TU:

Hi Guys: Thanks for all the replys. This is a new seal but not the original deck lid. The lid seals every where except in the right corner. I have checked it with paper and the paper slides out with no effort. Everywhere else the paper will not come out. The lid apears to be just a pinch high on that side. I will try the shim method. It appears that we all have a common interest in cars. BUICKS. Ken
