Hello, I'd like to convert my ignition from points to a breakerless ignition system. I've researched several brands on the internet. (Pertronix, Lectric limited and MH Electric) Does anyone know if MH Electric or Lectric limited is the original patent holder for the SE breakerless ignition system. Both companies advertise a similar product. Thanks, Robert
I put the Lectric SE conversion kit into my '72 last year and it has worked great. I've had zero problems and it was a very easy installation (30 minutes) with distributer left in. So far so good! I recommend.
I sell the Lectric Limited Brand (As well as all the other Products if needed) and I've had ZERO problems with them. If anyone is considering the Lectric Limited Brand I say go for it. A couple other nice features . . . You use all the factory wiring. No need to swap out or add any additional wiring with there kits. (So totally stock appearing unlike Pertronix which has an extra wire and requires a solid 12 volts) This is cool for any of you "stock appearing" guys. I offer a rebuild and installation service for the Buick Distributor if anyone is interested. Info and pricing on my website.... www.DieCastMuscleCars.com
I have used Lectric Limited units for about 10 years without issues. I have heard little complaint about Crane conversion units. Over the years I have seen many complain here about Pertronix failures.
for some reason Crane XR-I is no longer available and the substitute is FAST XR-I. did fast buy out Crane? https://www.summitracing.com/parts/crn-750-1710
