    Update;

Spoke with Ron (Senior Management - Legendary) and it appears there is an attempt to replace the VCC carpet. I already cut a hole to fit the shifter in a failed installation attempt and Ron said VCC will not take it back (of course). He's trying to work the issue out as a result of other problems I've had with the interior trim parts and he suggested another brand of carpet. I may end up eating this carpet.

He also said that I am the only Buick guy to complain about the carpet problems considering he's never heard of this before which I find hard to believe with all the negative feedback here on the board. I sent him a copy of the posts complaining about this problem. I requested VCC come up and install the carpet in my car to prove that it doesnt fit but that won't happen (of course).

If VCC does not replace my carpet I'll let you all know considering I'll be calling the VCC almighty god himself for a major bitch session. This is totally unacceptable.:blast:

    I will advise.

As you mention and as I mentioned above....people complain on these web-boards BUT they are not being vocal enough WITH THE VENDORS.

They don't religiously follow these sites so the complaints here don't count for much. In fact, they probably love these set ups as people can "vent" here and end up NEVER CALLING THE VENDOR about the problem.

Trim Parts IS NOT OWNED by ACC----I said earlier that ACC told me "They supply carpet sets to Trim Parts". Just trying to keep the story and indo CORRECT here.

Thanks and keep hammering for a correction.

When the carpet was first installed in my 70GS auto/column shift, the carpet did not want to lay down correctly and looked to large for the trans. tunnel area.
The fellow that installed it assured me it would eventually lay down and would look correct.
He was right. After a while it looks just fine...

Bert--The way I see it is the carpet DOES NOT SHRINK...thus "laying down" means all it can do is bend and fold somewhere as it "settles".

On a 4 speed carpet there would be some fairly hideous folds in the carpet if it was to settle down on top all the way to the trans tunnel metal.

What you would end up with is the carpet folded outward lower down on the sides of the trans tunnel.

A little tip for you guy's,buy the carpet from www.rockauto.com ,they sell ACC kits for less than any other supplier. And as for the fit it is because the jute pad on the back is too thin.If you order it with the mass backing it will fit better,as it is thicker padding.

And ACC does supply 99% of the reproduction companies, most of them re-box them in their company's box.

    UPDATE: HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Spoke with Guru Ron Halbritter of Legendary Interiors and he arranged through ACC to do a swap on my carpet even though I already cut a hole for the four speed (I'll go with a automatic carpet rather than the four speed).

Kudos to Ron for pushing for a resolution and his only request is to find an original Buick 4 speed carpet that he could send over to ACC to mold a TRUE 4 speed carpet. Does anyone have an old (front) carpet from a four speed car sitting in storage that they could donate for this cause? I do not have one available. This is a very, very good opportunity to get it right.
I may be able to get you a replacement carpet for your troubles, but I cannot guarantee it (I could always ask)

    Let me know,

    Good news for sure!

I do wonder about ACC's willingness to actually change anything as the molds/dies they have are, from what I gather, massive metal forms. That said, any changes to the tooling would probably be a fairly expensive process. They (ACC) told me that they acquired the "tooling" out of the old Collins & Aikman Company stash.

In any event, keep the pressure on and hopefully ACC will listen to their vendors. Big kudos to Legendary for going to bat for you on this also!!

That's some great New Years News.

It's great news and I hope someone has an original carpet to donate for the cause. Don't car if it smells like a dead cat, just need one to set a new standard..

Not to be one who harps on it when proven correct but I knew Legendary would do all they could to make a customer happy. Everyone on this board should remember how they responded when it comes time for carpet or interior replacement. Vendors who provide good customer service should be rewarded for "stepping up", even if it costs a bit more. And no, I don't work for them or have any financial ties to them. I'm just another very satisfied customer.
