OK, so appears to me that the LeSabre is the red-headed step child of the Buick family since very few people have or discuss them on here. I'm not sure why and I absolutely love mine! If you have one, will you post pics? I will post mine as soon as I get my damn camera working with this computer. -Cort:rant:
My 64 LeSabre 2 door hardtop was one of my favorites--looked as nice as or better than a Wildcat depending on your taste. And it ran strong with the aluminum head 11/1 CR V8 with TH400 trans. John :beers2:
I sold a beautiful 68 Sport Coupe last fall, and I really miss it. I'm looking for another which is a little more difficult than I thought.
Ya bum, ya ought still have 2 '71 LeSabres. I've still got mine, and it's the first car I ever bought (back in '84). Red-headed stepchild? I beg to differ, 'specially since I've got the new 464 under the hood. :Brow: I just don't have the time to hang here that I used to. :3gears:
I almost bought one almost like yours in 1993 for 3,000$ but I couldn't afford it then! It needed a few minor mechanical repairs but it seemed to be in great shape. I have met the guy who bought it a few years later and he told me he sold it for much more! It was a red 1968 LeSabre Custom convertible with a red interior. It was loaded with most power options and it had the 4 barrel 350 V8 but it lacked the "400" package and it had the regular 2 speed "300" transmission. I had a 1974 LeSabre hardtop coupe until two years ago. I miss that car now. I'd like to get another 1974 LeSabre, a LeSabre Luxus Convertible with the 455 Stage1!
I love my 68! Its my first Buick. - Bill I'd love to show a picture but I keep getting this error message from the board: 68 Lesabre.jpg: You have already attached this file in thread : lesabre 68 conv weird.... http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=59147
i had a 66 with the "400"package,340-4,s/p,posi,sunroof...had a giant tree branch poke thru the roof during one of the hardy seattle windstorms it died so others could live:TU:
Love my 66...there are a few things I would change if I could but since Im in college Im more then happy with it for now. I cant see myself selling this car, if I did I know it would be really hard for me and I know Id be kicking myself for the rest of my life for doing so. Heres some pics from a few summers ago, nothings changed on it (just took it out for the first time in 2 years)...
My 2nd Buick was a 68 LeSabre hardtop 4-door. It was a running car, suprised me...it was the 1st Q-jet car car and I remember the great sucking sound it would make when the secondaries opened up :TU: There is a guy out in Kansas that has a 66; then found a 66 3 on the tree coupe that matched. Wish I could have that one!
As a red head, both those comments bother me. I think the LeSabre doesn't get the love it deserves, but among Buick people, everybody has had one/will have one or just plain loves them anyway. Sure they don't get talked about a lot on this board, but then again, the Skylarks and the GS gets the most attention. I would also that it's only been the last year and a half that the Rivieras and Wildcats have gotten more attention.
Red headed step child.... not at all. These are great cars that us Buick guys drive while we're fixing our other cars:bla:
big bucks rule .i have had my 66 convt. since 1978. had other cars but i just keep it. when top goes down the fun goes up.
