so, as some of you have heard of, those fabled gold moroso gold valve covers, has anyone used a set on a 455? If so how’d it look?

Don't think they made them for a Buick 455. IMO, there are way better choices.

Way back in the day around 1981 my friend put them on his 231 V6.
Looked good because they were the only after market ones available then I think? Not sure if Kenne bell had made any yet?

If there are gold ones made, use the blue or red plug wires too, along with some Anson slot wheels, and raise the rear end about 4 inches and you’ll have the total Mullet look!

    Tough crowd :p
I think it stems from not having choices/options for our Buicks from the aftermarket in general. Even Oldsmobile had Moroso valve cover options.
I ran chrome Moroso valve covers on the 429 in my Mustang for 20 years. Partly because they fit where taller ones wouldn’t, but I also liked the way they looked and fit the vibe of the car at the time.

You could always have the covers Gold-plated. It's not quite as crazy as it sounds - Gold is electroplated very thin, so there is only a very small amount of actual gold used. The major roadbock would be in finding someplace that is set up to Gold plate an item as large as a valve cover; Most Gold plating is for jewelry. I also don't know what preparation is required, there may be only certain metals that Gold would adhere to, so the covers might have to be plated with something else first. I know that Nickel will not stick to Steel, so if you are plating something made of steel, it must be Brass plated first. That may also be true of Chrome. The actual cost of the Gold would probably not be the item that would break the bank.

I put a set of those gold Moroso covers on a SBC years ago. Think I had a matching timing chain cover if I remember right. Chicks dug them. :)

I ran a set on my 327 back in the late 70’s-80’s, had an Alpine stereo, mullet and big tires, chicks still didn’t dig me.

I did a set of 67-69 covers in gold chromate, thought they looked pretty sharp especially with the repro Kenne Bell stickers on em. If someone started with better cores, they'd be pretty legit..

There is a seller on Ebay that makes and sells valve cover adaptors so you can use a Pontiac valve cover on a Buick Big Block head. They are pricey, about $275 but you should be able to find the gold Moroso valve covers for the Pontiac if you want them that bad. The sellers name is.

It also might open the door for me to put a bad ass Pontiac motor with Buick valve covers in my car.o_O:eek:
It would be a lot easier and cheaper, that's for sure.
