    Hi Everyone,

I have a 69 skylark custom. I bought a new set of rear tires p235/60r15. The tire is too wide I'm going to roll the fender but by eye balling it looks like I won't have the clearance still looks like it'll rub just a tad. My next bet would be to lift the rear end which I think looks a bit better. Do you guys have any suggestions on what kit or things I can do to achieve this? Thank you in advance.

Surprised there is a clearance issue with those tires. I ran them on my 68 no problem, and wider have been used without any modifications.

Yeah I was almost sure they would fit too, but it looks like after I roll the fender I still won't be able to slide a dime in between the fender and tire. I'm hoping I'm wrong but we'll see so my only option after I think is to lift it.

Get a wheel with the correct offset for the tires and new stock springs. Rolling the lips of the sheet metal should br avoided for many reasons.

X2, the wheels being used do not have enough back space.

X3!! I have 275-60-15's on my 72 Skylark vert. with no rubbing issues at all. I know it is not a 68 but the wells are pretty close I believe. The 275's are 11" section width compared to the 235's 9.5" section width. I agree you probably need 4.5" backspace wheels, either 15 x7 or 8's.
    Good luck, Don

    Don,
The wheel wells aren't close. They are different. The 68-69 require more back space.

You can change to wheels with more backspacing and still lift the rear a little. They look great with a slight rake. Back in the day they were all "jacked up".
