Trying to track down a tapping noise in my 69 430. Removed the intake to remove the lifters and push rods.
Push rods roll straight on a plane of glass, lifter bottoms and cam lobs look good. My question is should I be able to push down the lifter plungers manually with my hand ? All 16 plungers do not move.
    Thank you
    Jerry

If they are full of oil, no, the plungers will be difficult to push down.

Check your rocker shaft to see if worn on bottom where the rocker runs
