I use this home made support to transport or store engines:

Yes. That's how we get new Ford engines at work. Custom built 2x4 frame bolted to the block somewhere. Seal all holes with whatever you have. Cover in plastic. I use either carb flange or intake bolt holes in heads (if heads are off) for lifting. Better to be overprepared and safe when it comes to transport. Tie the whole thing down in the cargo area with ratchet straps. Count on an accident. You know, Murphey's Law. That way you won't have one. Goodluck. I wish mine was that far along. :)

    EriK,

That's a beautiful thing. I have 2 similar setup with 2x4. All I know is one end is wider than the other. They're still working but a bit worse for the wear and much cruder. Can you add measurements/dimensions to the pictures? I can measure mine but there are engines in them. I could sure use a couple more of those around here and I'll bet someone else will build one, too.

    Thanks

I have the same setup Gary has, a cradle made of 2X4s and 2X6s and bolted togeather. Probably looks just as crude as his or worse, they used to have Mopar engines on them. Put wheels on em and push that motor wherever you want. Take the wheels off, great for transport, strapped down of course.

    Mike,

    I PM-ed you about this.

In short: Engine support is in use for an engine up north now, but I'll post the exact size as soon as I'm able to measure it.

Ok, I made one last night here are my dimensions and pictures. I know it fits the pan perfect as I built it around the pan, but may need some modifications when the engine is actually on top of the pan.

    Jeff,

I wonder if your construction will leave enough room for the harmonic balancer.... :Do No:

    Hi Erik!

Long time not seen or spoken. So your wooden crate is up north.... than it should not be far from me here in Friesland
