Here's a stupid question... I just changed out my fuel pump and I'm having the MOST horrible difficulty trying to re-attach the steel fuel line that runs to the carb. Now, is there some requirement or can I just replace that line with a couple of fuel fittings and run some kind of simple fuel line hose in place?
Not an unusual problem. Whether those were made a bit off or bent over the years it doesn't matter. Loosen the fitting at the carb and release the line from any clips. Maybe take it off at the carb as that'll be easier to re-fit if loose doesn't give enough play. Doesn't need to be replaced.
I've had the same problem. It seems that particular spot needs to be lined up perfectly, while all the other areas cut you some slack.
