Are you referring to the fuel line? In front of the valve covers?

There's a chrome pipe running up between the 2nd and 3rd cylinder bank going up to the aircleaner. Leads into a rubber hose??!!
If I knew how to add one of those cartoons of the pacman guy shrugging his shoulders, I would definately put it here!! LOL

I think that's the throttle linkage rod he's talking about that runs from the firewall to the carb and looks like a piece of straight chromed steel tubing. :bglasses:

After showing and judging cars for almost 30 years, I no longer enter my cars in judged shows. What do you do with the crap you win? Put it in drawer or closet for several years and then throw it out? Getting upset at losing to a "re-sale red" convert which is a POS while you know there are several cars, including your own, which are much better is not worth my time. Cars are made to be driven. To do so will usually mean you don't win because of a trailer queen. YOU know how good (or bad) your car is, and, after all, whom are you trying to please? Yourself or others? Shows sponsored by marque clubs are usually better because at least the judges know what to look for, but the local show sponsored by the local business group, etc., are not worth my effort.

Joe, Iwas at the BCA regional last week in N Pittsurgh, and think the peer judging was done quite well. There were many nice cars, and it appeared to me that most of the ones that should win did.
    :beer :beer :beer :beer

PS your Riv is VERY NICE

I went to a local show last month (Gramby) and got my Riv judged just for fun. I was amazed to see that same models of cars were found in many different classes and very dissimilar cars were in the same class... There were just 5 cars in my class and none of the 5 were near perfect. The nicest was a restored 67 442 and then it was mine...

My Riv is far from being perfect and would still need a lot of detailing but was freshly repainted a few months ago and was in much better shape than two other cars that took the second and third place. The owner of the car who took second place (a 68 Thunderbird) just came to see if I won the first! He didn't understood how he got the second and he and his wife showed me the major flaws that their car had... Cracked armrests (taped with many rows of black electrical PVC tape), Bondo, not working electrical equipment (which they checked), seat covers over the damaged seats and major rust visible from 50' away under the vinyl top... The car who took the third place was a 65 Riviera in a similar shape with very faded paint and a highly visible crack in the plastic on the rear fender just to name these flaws!
The only remaining car was a 56 Chrysler 300 that needed a total restoration!

I figured that I should have entered my 65 Wildcat (that a friend of mine used as a winter beater before I got it) instead of the Riv, I would probably have won something with it!

I have found that many car shows are run by a clique of freinds. If you aren't in the clique, no matter how good your car is you don't stand a chance. I've gotten hosed many times like that, and I'm sure there are many others who have also.

Phil, like I said, if you're going to win anything in a car show with a Buick, especially a Riv, it's gotta be perfect in order to compete.........and even then, mediocre Chevelles, Camaros, and GTO's will get it almost everytime. Especially in the Musclecar class, when I'm in that class they usuallly give me the "best Buick" rather than ruffle any feathers by giving me the "best musclecar"........it's happened to me a couple times both ways. I'd rather see another Buick get the Best Buick and argue with a few guys as to why a Riviera GS really is a musclecar instead. :Brow:
