Hi Still no lockup on my converter. 1985 s10 455 big block 200r4 trans.
Dwayne Martin told me there should be a 10 lb drop in pressure when tcc solenoid is activated. My pressure doesn"t change. I wonder if somebody could tell me what problem could cause this. any info appreciated Bernie Steffen bstef@mchsi.com

Bernie, can you supply some more details as to what you've done, haven't done, new/rebuilt trans or used, new or used convertor, what's being used to turn the lock up on, that kind of stuff.

Maybe one of the better trans guys on here will add some input then.

Bernie, I've never messed with 200's, but 700R4 valve body works the same.
If lock-up system is working, you can apply 12v to solenoid setting in the shop(in gear) it will kill the motor immediately.
All the solenoid does is become a magnet & pulls a ball off it's seat to open passage to converter shift valve. This reverses the oil flow thru the converter which slams a stamped steel plate(with POS paper lining) against the front of the converter can. Perhaps, a non-lockup converter was used?
No matter what, probably have to remove tranny to find out the problem.
Didn't you used to race at Kahoka back in the day?

Yes we did race at kahoka years ago. My brother Rick cousin Terry and Me. What I don't want to do is to take this trans out and buy a new converter or something and when I put it back together it still won't work., I woould like to find out what is wrong with it before I take it apart but sometimes it doesn't work that way. Just want it fixed. Thanks for the info BernieSteffen
