Stage-2 heads + TA 2014CHC headers work (Re: Long tube headers fit a 64 Special?) Dear OmahaRiv and V-8 Buick exhaust system experts, If one assumes a big-block Buick (since long tube headers are most common for this engine,) it is a very tricky fit except for one particular kind. If you are willing to go with TA-Performance Stage-2 cylinder heads then you can use the TA Performance TA 2014CHC headers and it all should work. That is what it fitted to my JW masterpiece engine that will be going into my trusty 1965 Buick Special Wagon. Cheers, Edouard :beer

When i did my 64 i found that with the Poston headers I needed to dimple the tubes around the steering column and also watch the clearance around the inner corners of the upper control arms, (i had to grind the corner off on the passenger side rear ) The headers you show in the picture look similar so i would tell you that yes they will fit and yes you will need a hammer.
I have TA headers AND THEIR MOTOR MOUNTS set in the postion that allows more room for their headers. I had to trin the upper control arm tabs on the passenger side and clearance a tube on the same side for the frame. My steering shaft is so close on the drivers side that it may touch when the engine moves a little as I can see marks on the paint. I dont know what brand you have but they look like TA headers. Good luck.
I didn't have any issues with fitment on my long tube headers except I dinged the left header for the steering shaft. I used a socket so it would be a curved dent. I had no issues with the area by the control arms. I also used the T/A frame pads.
I'm running 2" primary TA headers on the 455 in my '64. I had to dimple for the steering shaft and do a very minor trim on the passenger upper control arm. I also heated the pipes and bent the collectors up just a bit for som added ground clearance, but that was just more for personal preference and was not essential to make them fit.
