I am planning on getting my '67 GS400 painted back to its original color which was a 'K' code; Aquamarine I believe. I've looked at many paint chips but because of age they don't look the same.
So, does anyone on this board have their car painted ('67 Aquamarine, K code?) If so please post your cars picture on this thread so I can see if that's what I'd like for my '67

    Thank you,

Thanks guys for the help. The 66 I took the picture of Chris was a different color. I remember looking at cowl tag and it was a different code. I also asked the guy and all I remember was that is was not the same aquamarine as the '67, more green.

The picture of the 70 Stage 1 looks much closer, thanks George!

    Cheers,

    Great color

    Todd,

Great color!!! What color top (if it's not all one color) and interior?

I have seen a few over the years done that color - it must be a hard color to mix as out of the ones I have seen, only one appeared to be dead on. Mostly it seems they are painted a little to light and it gives it a washed out appearance. Also was a beautiful Skylark coupe that ran the circuit that was a shade or 2 to dark.

Thanks! Yes I love that color too.
The aquamist looks pretty close. But as for my color combo, the car was originally aquamarine with a white top (no vinyl) and an turquoise interior. I am almost certain I want to paint the whole car aquamarine. I have never been too fond of white paint.
I currently have the interior torn out in preparation to be painted. I'll try to get some pics of the door panels which still look very nice. But the problem with that is the digital camera makes the paint look green.
I'll have to get some paint chips of the aquamist and aquamarine and see what the differences are.

Thank for the pics! keep 'em coming

    Cheers

Thanks for the help guys! I found what I was looking for.

Jason, your '70 is absolutely beautiful! To bad you don't live closer I'd love to see it in person. GBUICK posted some pics that were what I was looking for. So here's my next question... should I stay with the stock paint scheme and go with the white painted top and aquamarine lower or go with all aquamarine? I'm partial to the all aquamarine but I like to hear others opinion's too

Thank you again everyone for the help!

    Cheers,

the white painted roof is somewhat unique on a GS - most are solid or have a vinyl top. You don't see many with a contrasting painted top.
    dare to be different!!!!

    colors

Todd, my brothers car is a Skylark that he has cloned into a GS. The pics of the car now are after resto pics. He said the color is called Aquamarine poly. The white painted top is the way it came new. Interior is about the same color as the car.
My '67 GS400 conv. was originally a blue-green color that I think was called Tahoe-turqoise. I have seen a '67 Pontiac that was the same color but the owner said that Pontiac called it something else. I think that BOP all used the same colors most of the time but each called it by a different name. Does anyone know if that is true?
The only other Buick that I have ever seen painted like my brothers is Rich Lasseters '70 Stage 1 car. I have never seen another Buick with the same color as my '67 should be.

    Code L

Gary, sounds like you have "Shadow Turquoise" - that is a great color!!! There are a few out there that color, but it's not real common.

I once looked at buying a 67 Special Coupe that was Aqyamarine with a Shadow Turquise painted top - striking combo

Keith, if it is Shadow Turqoise, is that what Buick called it? Back when we were ready to paint it,(1988) we wanted a base coat clear coat paint and could not find anyone that could make that color in that type of paint. I guess it all depends on what book you look at as to what the color is called. Back then, I had found "tahoe turqoise" listed as a '67 Buick color and Pontiac was calling the same color by a different name. Is Shadow Turqoise a dark blue -green color? I have seen a new '05 Tahoe with a very similar color.
To make a long story short, we looked at some color chips and picked what we thought was very close and have been dissapointed ever since. Someday I will paint it the correct color as it seems rare.

    color

yes Gary, that is what Buick called it that year. A good paint shop should be able to mix most any color - they always seems to try to take the easy way out and mix something that is in the road on new cars that is close. It is the dark blue green - really a rich great color.

Thanks Keith. Yes it is a very pretty color and someday it will be back on my car. All I have now are some pics from when it was fairly new that my mom and dad have.
