    Hi Tim,
I've maybe got a possible prospect. The only thing, I have no idea if it runs. It'a a 72 Skylark 2dr h/t. In that lovely shade so popular in '72, Antique Gold.
This is the car I had listed in car part outs. It's pretty complete, I bought it years ago at a towing yard auction as a parts car. The engine/trans. are still in the car, the air cleaner was missing and the alternator was off of it. But I have a good running 71 350 4bbl./350 auto. sitting here out of a 71 GS 350.
It looks like it needs quarters, I've never opened the trunk or really looked at it underneath. I'm guessing it's probably really solid, but will take a better look.
I can get you a few pics in any case.

No offense intended, but for her first car is there a reason she doesn't deserve at least air bags and antilock braking?

DaWildcat ,we have a 2005 car for her ,but she want's a old car ...she loves the older cars and i can't blame her :) she likes all the cars from the movie dazed and confused so we'll try to get her an old car plus she'll have a newer car to drive also !! .....and i like that she like's the older cars !!

Hw about my blue convert? 71GS350 (by the numbers) upgraded to 455 4spd. Not much work to do. Already wire brushed and repainted underneath with new exhaust, tires and suspension. Interior is done, paint is good, as is top and weatherstripping. If the 4spd doesn't disqualify it because she doesn't want to drive one, a girl in a convertible would be the hottest chick on campus. I'll warn you that the clutch is very stiff and probabaly hard for her to work with. It chatters starting off in first so needs replaced anyhow. You could get a stock one that would be easy to push down. It also has a coolant leak that I'm hoping to get fixed over the next few weeks with a local mechanic.

Pics from about five years ago I guess but still looks the same with less than 1000 miles since.

Good post, but if you buy a GS from a regular web site you're on your own. Buy one here and we (the sellers) have our reputations to protect. It's sort of like giving away our daughters at a wedding. They may have faults but we love them all the same and over a couple beers will tell you their great points, and what to watch out for. I don't have a daughter but imagine it is probably something similar.

Just remember,,, the stats show that a lot of first car owners will have a accident in the first year.... buy her a land barge and keep her safer....

Ditto on Devon. For a fully depreciated $2684 I put my daughter in a 136k mile, 2000 Merc Grand Marquis. These are cheap; easy (and even fun) to work on; plentiful parts litter the bone yards (cop sway bar installed last week for $25); reliable; SOHC V-8; cop brakes etc. etc. etc. I had it on a 60 mile freeway trip this morning - 28 mpg!! It's more of a pig in the city but for the price, the airbags, and the survivability I'm very happy to put my darling little girl onboard the boat. In 2000 this was a $39,000 car.

If you're determined to get her an old Buick, I'd stay away from a big block car... just sayin'...

Tim, have you ever lost a friend, family member to a car crash? I still can't believe you'd put any inexperienced driver, much less your own daughter, in a car from the '70's.

I'm sorry, I don't even have kids and this just seems absurd to me.

like i said she has not only 1 but 2 cars to drive that are air bag friendly a 2003 grand caravan and a 2005 hyundai to drive.....she WANTS an older car ..in our state she will have to have her permit for 6 mon's and have a supervised driver for 6 more mon's before she can drive by her self....so she really like's the buick's and i want to get her one .............when i was 16 ( 30 plus year's ago ) my first buick was a 71 skylark which i wrecked about 5 times before it was totaled by a dumb driver turning left from the right lane right in front of me..but thats a different story...dont worry she will be protected by every means necessary as she learns to drive ..i love my girls( yes i have 2 daughters ) to death and i will protect them by every means ..even if it means she can only drive an old car for a short distance like across the parking lot to our local cruise in's .....thanks for your worry but she WANT'S A an older car ...so being the dad i am i will try to get her one..... Thank's Tim
