All blasted and ready for primer and paint. Do I use semi gloss black for my 68 GS?

Most of the semi gloss paint I have seen has a little to much gloss, maybe the years of ware has dulled the paint I have seen, that I thought was correct on the air cleaners. I used frame semi gloss on my 68 and I think it is a little to gloss. If I was to do it over I would try Eastwood under the hood black. I did find a decal for the 68 GS but it is a stick on white letters with clear backing. Was looking for the OEM one that was painted with a stencil, I think. Maybe someone makes a correct one where the white letters have glue and the backing peels off. Thanks Bill.

Do a search on the board. GLOSS BLACK is how they should be painted

I was able to salvage the air filter instructions. Remember seeing a thread here and used some metal tape over the instructions. Whoever that member was GREAT IDEA!!

As stated above, GLOSS black is original.

Use an over the counter black primer and a gloss black enamel of the same brand. Just do not use Rustoleum as it takes forever to dry. I like Duplicolor. I have taken original decals off many Buick air cleaners and they were always gloss black. Not even close to semi gloss. Some guys make them very flat?

Ken, another gloss item is the non-AC heater box. You AC guys don't have to worry about that.

Sean, I had one too many bugs fly into the rustoleum over the years while drying..

Rustoleum has a fast drying spray paint they call Professional High Performance Enamel. I have had good results with it. Also have fast dry primer in grey and red.
