Our Chocolate Lab Guinness had been diagnosed with a brain tumor almost 2 years ago. He hung with us thanks to prednisone. Today when I got home he was unable to get up. This morning he was eating and even tried to mount our yellow lab, alpha to the end. He was the mellowest dog Ive known. His breading was from top hunting dogs. After the hunters had their pick, Guinness was left. He was the perfect family dog. 100 pounds of sold brown dog. hell be missed.

My condolences Mike.......I realize how hard that is to go through.
It's really a shame anyone has to go through it at all.

Very sorry to hear about your loss. We lost a black lab 3 years ago that we had for over 11 years. Befere we married even. He was a wonderful friend. He was overcome by cancer as well. My wife swore up and down that she would not get another just to eventually lose as well.

Needless to say, we have a chocolate now that just turned 2. He is the funniest dog I have ever been around. Having character is an understatement. I have said from the beginning - that we were not replacing our loss, just gaining another friend. My condolences go out to you and your family. And if you have children, I know they are feeling it also.

    Mike

Someone smarter than me once said "You know the problem with dogs? You outlive every darned one of them."

    He was right.

    Hang in there.

That can't be any more the truth. I've already outlived several in my family. My wife and I have yet to get one.

It's tough, even when you know it is coming.

:( Mike, I'm so sorry to hear this news. We are a Lab family too, and will probably never be without a black lab in the house. Lost our first to cancer 2 years ago at just 8yrs old. We didn't think we would be able to get another for a long time, before we actually lost him, but after 2 days there was another bouncing furry black puppy butt in the house! That was not an easy decision to make, as he had some very big paws to fill, but it was the right thing for us to do.

    Most Loyal Friend

Mike, My condolences to you. A dog is the most loyal friend that a person will ever have. We had a white dog years ago that would crawl under my '67 GS 400 when I was replacing a starter or something and lick me in the face. Always made me laugh. He looked a mess sometimes with grease and oil on his paws and back......a true "friend". You will always remember your Lab. ........John

Sorry to hear you lost your Bud. My Dad lost his 14 year old lab two days ago and I lost my 15 year old Lab a year ago. It sucks. I know it's probably the last thing you want right now, but you can always pick up a new pup....They are too funny!!!

Sorry Mike, I'd rather break a bone than deal with that kinda stuff. My sheltie is 14, and I dread the day I loose her. Amazing how attached we get to these guys. Take care Tony
