My buddy Ed Redmond stopped by today so I snapped a few pictures of the nicest most original GS I have ever personally seen. Other than the big block swap that he and I did back in 02 or so this car is as original as they come. I'll post a tongue in cheek video on youtube later but for now have a peek at this car.
Ed has the original title paperwork from the car as well as the very first title and matching front and rear plates that show on the original registration. I'm amazed everytime I see this car and I'm not amazed easily. The car has a spare tire that is dated back t 1970 but is an G78r-14 so it's probably not the original but a 1970 dated tire that was probably mounted on the spare rim very early in the cars life.
Right now it has actual 60,050 miles on it and when he bought it almost 10 years ago it had barely 33,000. He has every original piece including the numbers matching 350 on a stand. I clicked a few pictures of the smallblock QJ for reference too and it too is the original carb as far as he knows. Looks like it to me as I'm the one that pulled it off the engine. Several years ago he wanted me to check the rear brakes and the rear drums still had the retainers keeping them on the lugs. I had to knock out the slugs on the backplates to get to the adjusters too. It still to this day has the delco moraine brake shoes on the rear.
As threatened, Here's the short video from earlier today. remember this was made by two guys just cutting up and having fun so please don't take offense to anything that may be said or heard. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/okHBCiRDpo8&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/okHBCiRDpo8&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> :3gears:
60,000 is considered low miles? My 69 Special Deluxe has about 18,000 and it had 17,300 when I bought it 4 months ago
Yes.....60,000 miles is VERY low for a BBB GS of that vintage.....those cars were driven.....often to oblivion..... Peace WildBill
You know on one of the Mopar boards I belong to there is a guy that is always making video's with his car. I want to throw up every time I see them because of how annoying they/he is. But... I really enjoyed this video, you guys were having fun and showing off a very nice ride!!!
Thanks, Life is too short to be serious all the time. I believe in being serious when the situation calls for it and having fun the rest of the time. I've got almost 40 vids on YouTube and none of them are very serious. Punch in dbuttsfl and have a look. ou: I've seen some of the types you refer to that believe their car is the only car and the only way one should be represented. The cruise ins and car shows around here are full of those guys.
Just an observation and a question.... How can a '71 model car, built in June of '71, have such a low body number of 02050? Very nice car by the way!
Good question, Maybe it has something to do with being assembled in Fremont Ca.? Maybe another member with a Fremont car can chime in with their body number.
My '71 is a Fremont built car, build date of 01C, 3rd week January-71. Body # 03006. Thought I heard "somewhere" the GS bodies were pulled aside & assembled/prepped separately.
My '71 Fremont built car has a build date of 08D, 4th week of August 1970. Body # 00199. I heard there was no rhyme or reason. Dave, I see on the build sheet the word "Cert" in black marker. I also have the same word on my build sheet. Could be a Fremont thing? - Jeff
Whoops, Here's another video from the same day. Forgot I even posted this one on YouTube. Incase you haven't gotten it yet? I love this car. :3gears: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/EpsaNT-OkU8&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/EpsaNT-OkU8&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
