1973 buick 455, with A/C, lower alternator bracket needed. No alternator/bracket when engine was brought.
This is what I have for the lower bracket. How does $20.00 plus shipping sound? I also have the 2 upper brackets if you need them. $35.00 plus shipping for all 3. Let me know.
Glad to help. If you want to email your address to me, I can get a cost for shipping to you. dale455@gmail.com (PayPal account is the same) Do you still just want the lower piece? or All 3? :beer
Question is this the lower alternator bracket that also connects to the lower A/C bracket? Not sure by the picture how this hooks the Alternator to the block and the a/c bracket to the lower alternator.
Sorry, I somehow overlooked the post you made on Thursday. Hope this explains it. It's one piece that mounts both the alternator and AC compressor. The lower mounting ear of the alternator mounts in the area shown. A long bolt runs through the bracket into the engine. The lower portion of the AC compressor mounts in the cradle shown. :kodak:
WOW ! Dale your the man ! last question, does it fit on the block just as it sits in the picture and if so does the lower aternator "long bolt" go through the bracket, no hole shown. the lower bolt points to down ?
Yes, it sits as shown. The long bolt goes all the way through the bracket. The hole doesn't really show up in the photo. I take it you have the upper brackets? Maybe you'll want all 3 I have as a set so your can be sure it all matches up.
looking again at Dale's photo; I want to take out the lower (AC) alternator bracket and change it for a non AC bracket (still have to find one).... but can I cut the AC alt bracket to a non-AC alt bracket? (I got a few spare ones)
Looks like a 350 lower bracket. Are they the same thing for 455s? Sorry to but in, but I dont know and would like to know for future reference. Thanks! Ken G.
:TU: Email to me your address so I can figure shipping, and if you want just the lower bracket, or all 3. dale455@gmail.com (My PayPal account is the same.) I have the parts in the trunk of my car, so I can weigh it out here at work and get right back to you. Ken, this bracket is definitely off a '72 455. I imagine like the engines themselves, they look similar, just differ in size.
Thanks Dale. not trying to throw a stick in your spokes, just trying to understand. I probably should have PMd you. Thanks again for the info.
