    Hello all,
Had something happen last night that was scary and I had never before seen. The lower ball joint threaded shaft BROKE in two doing a quick slam job on the 63 Skylark!! Can I swap out the lower control arms (including the lower ball joints) from a Dynamic 88 or Jetstar (sp) thats in my local pick & pull? I don't know the years, but I would say they are in the early to mid-sixties.
    All replies are graetly appreciated!

    Reg,
I have seen this before and it is scary. Hope the car wasn't damaged and you were going slow. The problem exists after repeated ball joint changes wears the tapered hole in the steering knuckle/spindle. The hole becomes oblong, and the ball joint stud eventually fatiques and breaks. I had this happen twice to me on my 72 Skylark before a good mechanic clued me in. I replaced the knuckle and never had a problem for the rest of the time I owned that car. I'm not sure this applies to your 63, but I thought it worth mentioning. Good luck.
