    All,

Working on a 68 GS400, I am attempting to repair the lower cowl where the front lower rear fender attachs. I have called and e-mailed with pictures to OPG and have not received confirmation from them that this part is either right or wrong. I am hoping that you guys have made similar repairs to this commonly rusted out area. I am posting both a picture of my lower cowl and the OPG part.

    First the OPG info:

    Part Number: CH27103 (http://www.opgi.com/product.asp?top...ge=&VendorCode=&ProdCode=CH27103&currentTab=1)

    68-72 Skylark
Coated with electro deposit primer for lasting protection

The area between the front fenders and the firewall cowl is a haven for dirt and moisture, which causes rust and body rot. Now you can get a repair panel for that area from OPGI. Panels are stamped steel with the correct contours and flanges for a hassle-free and undetectable repair. Panels are sold per each, as right and left are different and each part is coated with electro deposit primer (EDP) for long-lasting protection from the elements.

I would not buy the patch panel unless the rust is much worse than pictured.....just get some flat sheet metal and fabricate your own patch panels....you have minor rust and that area will never be seen so it does not have to be pretty just functional.
