I'm lowering a '76 Century 2" that I installed a 455 in. I'm using cut down springs from a '73 GS 455 which are about the highest rate I want to try right now(500 lbs/in) and make sure it is not too harsh.
I'm cutting them in small amounts until I get the 2" but now I'm concerned that the shock body will be too tall for the height of the spring and could get blown out the bottom mount if you hit a good bump.
Does anybody know of a good replacement shock that is shorter than the stock one? I'm looking for the best handling I can get out of the car so I'd like to get a very good quality shock. For now though I'd take a p/n of any shock and maybe I can cross it over,
The same goes for the rear but that is more to keep the shorter/stiffer spring from falling out when you jack it up.
