Oops, when removing my wheels on my 63 wildcat, snapped off 2 studs and rounded another, need to torch off. All because I was not aware that Buick had (R) right hand threads on the drivers side of car. I knew that Chy/dodge had this on older models. When I bought the car the prior owner told me he could not get the wheels off the drivers side, well now I know why. ou: Just sharing the pain Adam
lug nuts All the Buicks that I have ever seen have had rt hand lug bolts. The only one that i have seen with left hand threads is oldsmobile and chrysler . I think some previous owner put the left hand threads in the car. BTW a lug bolt can be driven out and then "pulled" back in. Just take a punch and hammer and hit it dead center driving it back toward the backing plate. A little penitrating oil will help. Then take the new bolt and start it thru from the back side and turn the lug nut around backward so the flat part is against the axel flange and then tighten it up pulling the bolt down to the shoulder. If you try to use a cutting torch You stand a good chance of ruining the axle. :Brow:
I was thinking the same here Doc, but I wasn't really sure about the early 60's Buicks, and the way their studs were connected to the axle. Thanks for explaining that. :TU:
Howdy, Sears sells a socket the is made to remove rounded lug nuts, You might not have to burn it off at all
Okay, considering I'm trying to pick up a 64 Buick this weekend with no tires or lugs on it, you have my attention. Please tell me the lefties are the same size as the Chrysler's, I have some of those.
