We recently stumbled upon a salvage yard that closed in the early seventies. It contains hundreds of cars from the 40s 50s and 60s. We have committed to purchase the entire inventory of Buick engines and transmissions. Most of them are Nail Head engines from 63-66. There are many pre 63 NH engines as well. The weather will dictate how quickly we will be able to acquire all of the parts. E-mail or call us with a list of the parts you need. Thanks Brian
Cool beans!!! Nice find!!:TU: :bglasses: And a big :TU: :TU: for purchasing all those and allowing them to be put to good use.
Brian: Any chance that there are any '65 Skylarks there? Need some parts for my '65 GS rag top. Thanks: sdeak@adelphia.net
I dont remember any Skylark cars. Most of the cars were full size. There are many entire cars in the yard. Unfortunately there are very little if any usable parts because they have simply been sitting and rotting for so long. Many had very large trees growing in them and were so covered up with brush that it takes a chain saw to even decipher what type of car it is. Except for maybe some glass and trim the only things savable are the power train. There were a bunch of 59 and 60s including multiple convertibles of that era. They do have many sets of aluminum brake drums. The person helping us said that many of the street rodders liked the late 50s rear ends out of the Fords?
I know it's not totally Nailhead related, but do you know if there are any 1958-1962 GM wagons or Chevy 348/409 engines in there?
Brian if you see a passenger side tri-shield mirror & mounting bracket for my 65 Lark that are good enough for a driver lemme know. Would also be interested in a 425/ Swith Pitch 400 combo when you start to harvest.
Brian- any luck finding big Cats in that jungle? Im in the market for a nailhead block for a 66 wildcat. aj
Yep. 9" rear, narrower width than the later ones. The big thing they like is the smooth housing. Gave a cleaner look. Their width makes them a near-perfect fit for 80's Regals too. :Brow:
There are many late 50s and early sixties Chevy cars but no big block engines. There were over twenty 283s and two 327s. I didnt run any numbers but there were countless early to mid sixties Pontiacs and Olds big cars and wagons with engines. According to the person assisting us, the two 425s that were in the yard had already sold. All of the remaining engines are supposed to be 401s with single four barrel carburetors. I know there were at least two or more 66 Wildcats. I will do my best to make a more detailed list as soon as they call us to start picking the engines up.
Good for you saving those engines and trannies. Those 64-66 ST-400 trannies are good to save. Switch pitch even better. The 57-59 Fords (and Mercury's, Edsels, etc) are the rearends that are the narrow ones that are desireable. The 57 is the smooth back one, 58-59 have dimples, but still close to smooth. Desireable because they have about 57-58 inches total width and of course most all the nine-inch stuff interchanges. They do have the weaker third members.
59 Vert Brian, I have been searching for a rear seat back with speaker grille for my 59 LeSabre. All I would need is the seat back frame and the grille. I would have the rest already. Go ahead....make my day :beer
I need a four barrel intake for a 364. between the front bolt holes should measure 8 3/4" ran them from 57-61. You are a good man saving all thoes goodies for us junkies. oh yeah if you see any 50 's cadillacs or oldsmobile check for a bat wing air cleaner. Thanks
you wouldn't happen to remember if there were any 63 electra's or lesabre's do you?, I need a left front fender for my electra and i'm pretty sure the lesabre is the same, except for having three portholes versus my electra's four.
I can commit to convertible trim parts or any other associated 60 Electra 225 convertible parts as well as any nice 64 Wildcat parts ESPECIALLY any 4 speed parts for 63 or 64 Cats.Need red interior parts for the 64 also Nice job securing the whole collection! Thanks for any help, cash is waiting:TU:
How much are the nailheads going for? How much did the two 425's sell for? What will the 401's bring? What about the 364's? Are any of them runnable?
Nailhead Preservationest :TU: Nice Work, YOUR Efforts will help the rest of US Restore OUR BUICKS. Thanks for Helping US by giving US the Opportunity:beer
