Hi, I have a Buick GS 350 and I wanted to know what's the easiest way to make my car sound good/mean. Also, what kind of mufflers should I put on my car. Thanks for reading/helping.
Well.........U could run open headers! :Brow: That may be a little loud! I had flowmasters on my car, sounded nice, not too loud. Cruising at 65 mph, u can still talk to your passengers without yelling.
I am told my '67 GS400 sounds pretty good. I only have 2 1/4" exhaust with Flowmaster 40's and electric cutouts. I don't have enough posts to show you a link here but you can find videos of my car on YouTube. My handle is 6point1man. Look for the video titled "Burnout". It was taken just before I put on the cutouts. It sounds pretty good with only the Flowmasters. Now, the cutouts make it sound very badass at idle and while burning out. I would consider cutouts if you want the car to sound really badass but in hindsight, I should have upgraded the exhaust to 2 1/2" rather than stay with the 2 1/4". Dave
Hi Dave, thanks for replying. I think I will install cutouts. In your opinion what are the best cutouts? QTP or DMH? I hear that DMH has 4 year warranty and people pick DMH for that reason.
If you are running stock manifolds, get a dual 2 1/2 system and some Walker Dynomax mufflers. It will sound great!:TU: Do not use flowmasters unless you want it to sound like every other small block in town.
Thanks everyone for the comments. Especially raminc reply hahaha. I ended up ordering some QTP's. They arrive on Friday and Ill have them installed the week after. Ill let everyone know how they sound/work out. Anyone have cutouts for their Buick??
I got the QTPs installed on the GS. They are awesome. Love that I can turn it off and on. When they are on, its pretty damm loud. I highly recommend for anyone looking to make their car roar on demand.
Hey! I wasn't ignoring you. My V8Buick.com account will no longer send me emails when a response is posted on a thread. To answer your question on what kind of cutouts: I bought these ones from Summit Racing. I am not sure who makes them. The kit was $371 including shipping. I'm not sure if they still sell this as a kit but you can check with them. One thing to consider on these cutouts is there are two switches to open/close the gates. This does not bother me but may bother others as you need to hold both switches to open and close. The switches are cool because if you press them once, they open/close part way. If you hold the switches, they open/close all the way. I like having the choice of loudness. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-670150-1/ http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-670135/ http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-670152/
