I was told that a manual steering box out of an S-10 pick up truck will fit into a 81 G-body car. Does anybody know which year S-10 steering box I need. :Do No: Also, do I just use the G-body pittman arm or do I have to use the S-10 pittman arm.
    Help Please,

On my 86 Regal, I used a 1986 S-10 box as well as the S-10 pitman arm.

I used a 93 S10 manual box and pitman arm. Easy no nonsense replacement.

So how hard is it with manual steering? I've had wrist killers before (69 Rebel).
    How would you rate it?

Thanks for the reply guys. Your replies are most helpful!!!
Dan, I would not take off the power steering if you run your car on the street. No street car is fun without power assist!!!
    Thanks,
    Tony

    Hey Tony,
Nice meeting you about a month ago. I'm the big goofy guy that was with Don Eggers (green 83 regal). Don was telling me tonight that he was going racing in the next couple weeks. He has a new launch technique he wants to try. He figures he can knock a couple tenths off. I just think he needs bigger tires. Hope to see you at Keystone.

How bout a flamming River Box?

This is the box I used, which saved 45#s over the stock unit. This is not a cheap installation, but it is a really nice unit.

I use a vega manual steering box in my 84 Regal but is for strip use only. It is even lighter than a s-10 box and you must move the pitman arm over to the next flat but you have more steering travel in one direction than the other. This is not a problem on the drag strip but again for drag strip use only. You will also need the steering shaft from the vega box to connect to the Buick (original) steering shaft to the Vega box. Hope this helps if your building a race only vehicle.
