Manual tranny on full size boat ?

Discussion in 'U-shift em' started by sweeneyssabres, Sep 30, 2005.

  1. Anybody out there in Buickland have experience with manual transmissions on full size barges, i.e. Wildcat / LeSabres?
I have a 1970 LeSabre I am thinking of converting and am not sure it a Muncie will take the weight.

    Thanks, Reinhart

a 3 speed manual trans was standard on a 1970 LeSabre and Wildcat. The pedal and linkages are fully illustrated in the Chassis Service Manual. I have only seen one set of these before.

A muncie rebuilt with all the new available componets (new gear set, case and mid-plate) would be tough enough for the job. Its a M22W (wide ratio).

keep me informed and let me know how i can help.

I always thought a column shifted 455 in a big car would be fun. :TU:

    Hi Greg,
thanks for the answer, I will start looking for and gathering the components.
Will probably be a while before I start into it, actually, I cant do it myself, so, I am hoping to find someone who knows what they are doing. Might be a while.
So is that the Muncie I should be looking for (M22W?).
I think I have the Chassis Service Manual somewhere, thanks for that tip also!!!
