Hi , I am up here in Laconia NH , joust moved from Harvard MA . Can any of you guys reccommend a machine shop in the area for bbb work ?
Dave- ah, that's it! I knew your name was familiar. How's things? Tom- only machine shop I've used is in Waltham- but they did great work for me: TC Auto machine. Tom Cavuto knew my 455's specs off the top of his head and gave me a very reasonable (not to mention accurate) finishing time.
There is a shop in Marblehead, MA, that does some Buick stuff (he does all my stuff when I can't ship the engine to TA performance). He's pretty good, but you should tell him the critical specs (bearing clearances, etc.) since he is used to doing Chevy engines. They initially set up my block girdle, and have done quite a bit of other work for me. They also have an in-house dyno in case you want them to do break-in and tuning. George Dwyer Grew up in Blackstone and still work all over mass but live in Cumberland, RI. 1969 Buick GS 400 and my damn 1991 GMC Syclone. If anyone knows anyone in New England who wants to buy a Syclone, send them my way. Thanks and look forward to meeting some of you at the cruise nights. (I usually do Riley's Roast Beef in Framingham Sat. nights then shoot down 109 to Millis).
machine shop t&c machine in waltham 1-781-893-7997, TOM CAVOOTO , great guy he has built alot of buick 455's and v6 turbo motors. he fixed the butcher job t/a did to my 455 . T/A sold me a $3000+ short block that came apart after 600 miles. they used a 30 /20 crank that was spay welded on rod # 7&8 journals and thats where it failed. it cost me over 2 grand to fix my lower end had to get anew crank have it turned and rebalanced and reasembled. T/A sent me new rod & main bearing & a oil pump. :af: so watch out you never know who's going to screw ya.
