I have a Th350 transmission and the stock flex plate on the 455, I'm missing the Torque Converter. What size and specs should the Torque Converter be? My buddy just bought a converter and it didnt match he's flex plate, i dont want to go through the same headaches. Can somebody Help? Thanks for looking...
Torque Converters will fit both the THM350 and 400. However, the flexplate has to be drilled for both small and big bolt patterns. If your flexplate is, then you should have no problem. Take a look at this picture. Notice their are 2 holes at each converter bolt position. http://www.v8buick.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=68932&d=1141943048
Marvin 455 Buicks came with a couple of flex plates. One with two sets of holes that should line up with the smaller converters. If yours has two sets of holes you shouldn't have any problem bolting up to just about any 350 converter. If you don't have two sets of holes I'm sure if you go to the parts wanted section someone will have what you need. I have a flex plate with two sets. Good Luck Bob H.
Hey Guys, I have the flex plate you posted with the correct holes. Thanks! Now if you can school me in torque converters please, which one would i need? I see different inches ("8,"10,"11 etc..). What's that all about? Thanks again guys! :TU:
The smaller the converter the higher the stall speed. A lot depends on what cam you are running and gear ratio. If you are running fairly stock I would suggest a switchpitch converter. Then you have two stall speeds. You can get more info from the vendors that sell this stuff. Good Luck. Bob H
