Left Orlando at 6:00PM Sat. night. Headed south on the Fla. Turnpike for Cuba, I mean Miami. After $56.00 worth of tolls:af: Holy COW guess they took the term "HIGHWAY ROBBERY" a little to literally:Dou: I made it to the "hood" to pick up this car. It was being guarded in the back fenced in lot of Street and Strip machine shop by a junk yard dog. Got loaded up and on the road by midnight and headed North. Grabbed a 3 hour cat nap in the front seat of the prison bus( back of the van was full of trade show crap to leave room for once proud SS in the trailer). A before sunrise double order of Scattered Smothered and Covered Hashbrowns along with some toast and bacon served to me by a tootheless waitress and the 360 is chuggin away totin' the featherlite up I95 knockin' down 10MPG @75MPH. Make it into Ga mid afternoon and just north of Brunswick Ga. I feel a bad vibration and quickley pull over. LOST A DAMN TIRE:mad: And of course it mangles the fender:af: To make matters worse the it didn't go flat...It only kicked the tread off and it wrapped itself around the axle. I risked life and limb while every grey hair in a giant motorhome tried to crush me against my trailer cuz they don't have the brains or skills to move over and give me room to work. One A$$HOLE actually chased me under the trailer when he rode the rumble strip past me. After ripping my hands to shreds wrestling the tread carcas and having no luck getting the rubber wedged from between the backing plate and axle I bungee'd it out of the way and motor'd on. Made it to Viginia by Sun.about 11 AM. I was worried about how well my lil' 5.9 would handle 7 mile hill(the first 7 miles of Va. climb about 2500ft:puzzled: ) Most of the big rigs do it at about 25-35MPH when loaded. The MAXI-PAD has close to 2500lbs in the back, A 25ft enclosed trailer with a 69 Chevelle and other misc crap inside. I ready to turn on the flashers on take my time crawling up the hill. I figger I'll get a bit of a run at the topographical monster(OK you west coast guys..I know it's not the Rocky Mtns, But it's a big hill for us Eastern folks) I mash the gas and hit it at 80MPH in OD, Once I slowed to 65 it dropped into DRIVE and slowed to 60MPH and just stayed there!I couldn't believe it ALL THEY WAY TO THE TOP:TU: So I stop again at exit 14 for some much needed sleep and more importantly a hot shower. By now it's close to Midnight and I stress to the gal at the front dest how I need a 3:00am wake up call so I can make it to Cleveland by 9:00 Monday morning for work. I'm asleep before the lunpy excuse for a pillow had time to compress fully. I wake up and look out the crack in the curtains and in my slumber indused stuper think "Man there sure are alot of lights in the parking lot?" Turns out the lights in the parking lot were the SUN:rant: That dipstick at the front desk never gave me my wakeup call:af: A quick shower and a threat to kick the managers A$$ got Habib to give me back my $38.75 and I was on my way again. Well I finally rolled into Grafton at 1:00PM today(Monday) and all's well. The Chevelle is in the driveway of it's new owner next to a Skylark convert' and they are both lowering the property value of the rest of the homes on the street. about 1600 miles in 43hours driving solo:3gears:

PS. For any of you guys with enclosed trailers who get pushed when passing semi's... Reese DUAL CAM Sway control is worth it's weight in gold. After a having to mill off the ears to correct some geomtery issues and re welding it. I can give it the ROAD WARRIOR seal of approval. It turned my van into a pretty well behaved tow vehicle. A major acomplishment considering the thing use to swap lanes faster than a Viper on a slolom course whenever I passed or got passed by anything bigger than a minivan...A cabover semi was a white knuckle ride for sure:eek2: I would say it cured 85% of the sway problems:TU:

    Yo Mikey

Street & Strip Auto is owned by a friend of mine, Alan. If you would have gone due east on 168st about 2 miles towards Old Cutler Road, you would have practically run into my house... LOT'S better area than where you were loading up fer sure.

Looks like the SS is going home to F.L.A:eek2: The new owner called me to find out how much to haul it back to Miami. It appears the convertible body is sitting on a regular frame and the "FULL 1/4's" that were suppose to be hung are really just partials that are bondo'd on:ball: . New owner is not a happy camper. Hey Jimbo if I end up hauling it back I'll try and look ya up if the timing works out.
