Tom,For the guys like us who have doing this since the 80,s,I believe Jims line was "She,s legal, she,s a stocker". In Jims case,i believe it. He just flat knows how to do it!:3gears:

Congrats, the Bird rocks again! :TU:

Does anyone recall when Mino did a complete tear down of his engine for a magazine article, lots of photos, detail, etc.? He explained that there was no porting, factory cam, etc. I was trying to find this the other day, and can't recall if it was Musclecar Review or High Performance Pontiac magazine. I think the article was in the late 90's? :Do No:

I'm not going back to the drawing board...........I'm going to NASA Space Center to figure out a way to challenge that.

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the great comments! Norwalk's track is awsome and gives justice to a 4-speed with bias G70's. BTW, my 11.87-118 pass came with a 1.85 60' and density altitude was 2856 ft. (per dragtimes.com). And yea, "it's stock, it's legal". Good luck to you all and hope to see you at Stanton.

Those 68 RA Birds are a super potent package. Very underated.
People(the masses) to this day don't really realize what they are/were.

Good job Jim, that Bird is Flyin'(pun intended)

I'll bet part of the reason that people don't know about some of these very rare packages, besides the numbers built, is that Marketing had little to do with these cars back then. It was all run by the engineering departments. Marketing only got involved after they saw the success of a particular combo and tried to capitalize on it to sell other cars. Mostly after the fact.

There was very little "marketing" back then, it was mostly just sales. "Here they are, Mr. Salesman, shut up and peddle them."
