Comcast is the provider of my cable TV. In my current bill there was a rebilling of last month's balance plus a $10 late fee and a thinly veiled threat that they could cut off my service. I always pay my bills on time, so I looked in my checkbook and found that I had written the check on February 23. I then went to my bank statement and found that my account had been debited for the exact amount of the bill on February 28. The new Comcast bill was dated March 4. Apparently in this computer age, it takes more then five days to record the receipt of payment at Comcast. Silly me - I thought computers were to make things happen faster. Not at Comcast.

BTW" I do know that I left the last letter off Xfinity in the title, but I can't figure out how to fix it.

They are penalizing you for paying by check - they want people to pay electronically and then charge a "service fee."

Yep, Comcast wants you on autopay and paperless billing from bank acct. Supposed to save $5 / month off each acct.
Credit card payments are charged a fee. For the most part, They still suck....

I still write cheques for utility bills each month. One phone call last time there was a discrepancy solved the problem with no fanfare. Stayed polite and jovial with the CSR who was glad to help me. I also reconcile my monthly credit union statements with my chequebook. Sometimes the balances are a nickel apart.:D

Comcast are a bunch of thieves. They are ALWAYS looking for a way to increase your bill. If you call and complain, they "fix" it for about 6 months, and then do it again.

I finally dumped them after many years of their being the only game in my area. Don't miss them at all.

It isn't the computer it is the mail system everything I send out now takes over a week or more to get where it is going. I sent a gas bill in Jan and I go inside the post office now to deliver mail as I had a check stolen from a mailbox right next to the post office and was rewritten and cashed. That's another. story but after that I always went inside to post office to send mail.

Well the first gas bill in Jan I had to cancel the check since it had been 3 weeks and still was not cashed. Well I got a new bill and sent that in on Feb. 20
That gas bill check was just now cashed on today March 19 so it is taking almost a month for mail to get thru.
I also sent out a car insurance check out Last Saturday over a week ago and still has not gotten there yet.

My wife sent out a tax bill in Jan. and it never got cashed either. She had to cancel the check and it was sent back.

The Cleveland Post office is slower than a bag of rocks and that is all there is to it.

I am about ready to just do everything thru the computer and the hell with the mail system they just suck now.

Nobody goes into my checking account but me.

I also agree with Max Damage - If there was any other practical option, Comcast would be gone.

Edit: There is one exception to the nobody goes into... I file my income taxes electronically, and (applause from me) I owe them a couple of grand plus a little bit. They will be authorized to make an electronic debit; that way I don't have to pay them until April 15.

...creditors make lots of money on late fees, especially in current economy. No more grace period, and my favorite (not), rolling 4-week due dates, so you have to remember a different due date each month. On the flip side, there's refunds that you don't know when they'll will be deposited, and the rolling payment date for Social Security recipients, based on birth day...

I switched to electronic bill pay through Paytrust (small fee) and then my credit union (which is free) 20 years ago. I figure I save $13 a month by not using stamps! Unless I really screw up, my credit union always goes to bat for me if there is an issue. I don't think I lose any privacy since everything is in a database now anyway.

I pulled to plug on Comcast last month of 14 years of flim flams, smoke & mirrors and other bullshit that cost too much money.

Verizon is $35 less (monthly) and the price is guaranteed for at least 5 years. They also gave me a $100 Amazon gift card, which came in handy. This is just for WiFi. I have no cable channels or local channels, more so because I don't really watch TV.

I realize these companies are in the business to make money but Comcast has been price gouging (everyone) forever. It feels good to beat them for $420/year for the same service.

The postal service in Cleveland SUCKS!!
I sent the premium payment to State Farm via mail for the Tahoes, took near a month to get to Georgia. I call my agent now and make the payment over the phone.
I’ve always said, I can get **** done faster than the internet, like bank to bank transfers, 4 days online????
I go to the ATM, take money out, drive to my other bank and BOOM, DONE! 20 mins. tops!

Dump the cable. You probably already have Netflix and/or Amazon Prime, so in a sense you're already double paying. Get yourself proper internet (I pay $23 a month) and stream what you want to watch. I ultimately dropped from $265 to $80 a month, including that aforementioned $23. In most cases you'll need something like a one time purchase of an Apple TV box (very inexpensive compared to that huge Comcast monthly bill).

Doing this in a week or so. ATT ran fiber through the neighborhood last summer. I called WOW cable today and asked them what my internet only rate would be if I dumped the ($200) a month cable TV. $65+ tax for 300mb down 20mb up. I told them im only paying $45 for that right now included in by bill with TV.

I asked them for the $30 (same speed) deal. NO. That's for NEW customers ONLY. I have the option of Comcast, WOW, or ATT in my area but apparently WOW could care less if you leave.

Went online to ATT got 300mb down And up for $55. No rental fee for modem, no hidden bull.... $55+tax
Also got $150 gift card for being a "new customer" :D

Comcast has advertised $20 per month internet promotion for 2 yrs. I stream Netflix & Amazon Prime without buffering with that comcast $20 plan. Good enough , :D:D

No other cable provider options in my area.:(

We went with Spectrum when they ran fiber through our area. Everything was great the first year. We opted for a "landline", Spectrum TV programing, and of course internet at 300mb speed. After a year was up our rate went up so we complained to Spectrum. They said it was a promotion so that's why it went up. We asked to cancel the land line service which we pay $20 extra a month. They said our rate would actually be higher without the landline as it's part of a special package deal. What the $#@!. Further more their stupid modems keep failing. We're on the fourth one! Unfortunately there's no other providers in our area.

Oh I stuck it to them. I had a $30 plan and they didn't give me the 20 deal, so I called them out and last 3 bills have been $5.
    I hate Comcast.

Whoever your provider is, if they charge a monthly rental fee for their modem and/or router, you'd be money ahead to buy your own. If the rental fee is $10/month, the equipment you buy would probably pay for itself within two years.

They pulled this stunt on me, too, but if you remove all the mandated FCC fees for a landline, like 911 service, help for the poor, and all the taxes, it was actually cheaper to drop it. I also dumped their cable TV about 4 years back. It is now $79.99 for bare 300Mb internet without much option at my exact address.

I keep trying to get T-Mobile home cellular internet that is available 1/2 mile either side of me but they won't sell it to me at my address.

A company called Stupp that builds bridges and other construction is running fiber in the local area. They allowed me to pre-register for it and promise it will be delivered to my address in 2024. It isn't much cheaper at $79 350MB but fiber is usually symmetrical at 350 up and 350 down as opposed to cables asymmetrical 300 down, 10 up. It sucks when trying to upload youtube videos or lots of pictures.
