If you go to the 7 minute mark, you can see Rotonda in one heck of a match race with a Sox and Martin Cuda driven by Mr 4 Speed, Herb McCanliss. The car must have run in the 9s and they used it for street racing in NYC.
Sanford is one of the local strips where we hung out in the 60s. It has long since ceased operations. Here is a picture of two local but famous drivers going heads up. Melvin Yow versus Ronnie Sox. Notice how close spectators could get to the cars at this outlaw track.
Around Maryland we still have Marvin Lucas..... runs the HOPPIN GATOR Camaro. Just saw him at the track I believe he is 84 yrs young.
