I have recently purchased a 1972 GS 455. The car has a stock 76 455 that was bored 30 over. I would like to know the most reasonable way to get additional power and still be able to run on 93 octane. What would be the best head, intake combo for this engine. I am guessing that the low compression heads will need to go. I also want to run stock parts. If anyone has run a similar set up I would love to hear you ideas. Also cost estimates would be helpful. My budget would be $1,000 - 2,000. I have read alot about heads etc. on this board but nothing specific to the 76.

Also this car was not ordered with posi? !. Can someone tell me where the number is cast for differential. The car has excellent initial punch off the line and will let off speed fairly significantly when you get off the gas. I am thinking that the car may have 3.43 rear or did this only come with posi?

I have been very apprecitative of the info that I have gotten from this board.
Thanks in advance for any help.

70 heads and intake will help with compression. go with stage 1's and you'll be even better. Then headers and cam.

A seof TA stage 1 SE's if you can afford it, if not some iron ones. e-mail if you are interested in a set I have.

I have a set of stage 1 conversions, stainless valves, stock guides, pocket ported with polished chambers.
