Have a 231 in a saginaw gear box car, want to up date to what Buick should have done. Install a Buick 350 motor, and mount on the bell of the saginaw. Can I (1) use flywheel on 231 to the crank back of 350, flywheel is good. (2) I have a 350 chev flywheel and a 455 all alum flywheel with a 427 clutch pack was in manual wildcat on a 430 before. Keeping cost down, can I use the existing flywheel on 231 and will it bolt to the 350 buick motor? (3) Dumby question learning!!! In pulling out the motor how do you disassemble from tranny after bell bolts are out, do I take off flywheel and leave like a torqueconverter? or pull out and take fly-clutchpack with motor? what about the shift pedal arm to clutch before or during pull? I am use to automatics, 1st manual switch help I am learning, craig

    wow, questions over questions...

    hi,
wow before i have to explain that i am a german, also if i don`t choose th right words, don`t be angry with me.
so, now to your questions, i did both ones on an olds ( auto tranny)and ones on my buick.(shift tranny).
i can not answer all your questions, but why don`t you take out engine with tranny, so you can work better on it ?
when you opened the belly screws you can take away the tranny.flywhell stays on the engine and the cluth is mounted in the pressure plate. you pull out the tranny axle out the clutch.and a shift tranny uses other flywheel as the auto tranny, because of the clutch.
hope i could help a little bit.....
