Hello er'body, I'm new here. I used to be an import guy, but i've gotten wise and bought a '65 SKYLARK 2 DOOR HARD TOP!

    My question is:
I noticed that my steering has gotten tight all of a sudden.
I popped the hood and noticed that my motor is rubbing on the steering shaft.

I bought the car recentlly, it has a 350 in it. I know 'larks didnt come from the factory with 350's in it until later years if im correct.
The frame is straight, so i'm suspecting the motor mounts.
Any one know of the proper motor mounts to use for my set-up?

Also, I'm thinking about installing an auxilliary fan for the radiator.
I drive this car daily, and i'm always in traffic. I'd like to get her ready for the summer heat here in california.

Which fan configuration is best? PUSH OR PULL?

any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Not positive about this, but I bet the motor mounts are actually the '65 mounts - the same used for the stock engine.

From reading numerous boards / posts over the last few years...I've heard before that the 350 is pretty much a direct bolt in place for the 300. So it would stand to reason that the motor mounts are the same if this is true.

You could always purchase a set from the local auto parts store & just return if they are not correct.

Just be glad that you don't have a 64 w/64 towers & mounts. That's what I originally had but they are not reproduced by anyone. You would have to get your mounts re-vulcanized at a cost of around $100 or more as I recall.

I ended up purchasing a set of '65 mount towers so I could use the '65 mounts (which are still available & distributed by TRW).

    Hope this helps

I have read several article on the best fan to use and consensus is the puller fan is the best

    350 mounts

D.B. : my car is a 65 special ( same body / frame , originally came with v-6 and three-on-the-tree ) . the 350 in that is put in with the original v6 frame mounts ( but original v8 frame mounts most likely the same ) and i used '65 small v8 motor mounts - seems to be in there ok . del

Thanks for the help fellas. Deadmanscurve; My car also had 3 on the tree (as evidenced by the nubs on the steering column) so yeh, i'm assuming it used to be a special as you said.

I guess i'll have to rip the motor out to really find out which motor mounts were used. I'm asuming that one of the mounts had gotten old and started to give way.

    Thanks again fellas!
