Boy, this is a hot item!!! I've been looking into buying one,$$$$$. I thought about buying one used and they are still $$$$$. "Larrys GS" swears by this unit so this must be a super upgrade. If any one had bought the Digital 7 (as a upgrade from the digital 6) and wants to sell there Digital 6 let me know, AL.

I purchased the digital 6 for the same reasons you are raving about it. The multiple rev limiters, and two stage retard are great features. I had the unit run for about 20 minutes before I had to return to MSD for repairs. I reinstalled the unit set the timing awaiting my new transmission
(about two weeks) when I went to start the big block again it had no spark.

I called Summit Racing and they are sending me a new unit. I let you know if this one works more than 20 minutes. :(

It would be very probable that a used one would be well tested and would run find.

That's funny, my Digital 6+ ran for about 20 minutes  Turned out it had fried the Taiwan Accel coil  Replaced it with an American made MSD chrome coil(part# 8200), and never had another problem. Fires everytime. :TU:

The MSD Digital 6 is faster reaction time and has retard on start up and retard on extrem high RPMs. Also has a rev 2 limiters. If Larrys GS sees this post he could right a book on the different features on theses, AL.

Just got an E-mail from Dave Ray. He told me if you use the wrong coil with the MSD Box, it will wipe out the box. The Accel coil I used was foreign made, but said Made in the USA on the box. Yeah right, maybe the box was made here. USA made coils have a segmented crimp around the top of the coil, foreign made do not. The only good coil from MSD is the 8200 chrome one as far as I know. The red ones are made in Mexico, I believe. NAPA has a good coil, not sure of the part #. Anybody else have an MSD box fail?? What coil was on it at the time? Weekender, what coil were you using?

I was going to buy a new off Ebay but you still don't know what your getting :Brow: so I trust the folks on the Buick Board and if I don't see a deal here I guess I'll go to plan "B", AL.

    Nope! wasn't my coil

Replaced the whole darn unit. It almost scared me how fast it fired. I just had a bad box. But after you pay $80.00 for one day shipping (Back and forth to MSD) for repairs you would think you would get past the tune up, wouldn't you?

    Got it fixed

Just wanted to update you on my Digital 6 problem. I am now a happy camper! :) I installed the new unit and it works flawlessly. While getting use to the Manual shift valve body in my TH400 it has already proven the benefit having the top end rev limiter. Looking forward to implementing the other features next year.

    Buy one when you can.

has anyone stepped up to the fully programable unit yet?
I don't have the part number available but I've seen that MSD offers an additional processor to upgrade the 6- Digital to a programable. It'll allow you to time each individual cylinder by something rediculous like .1 degrees every 100 rpm. It comes with software so that you can plot a timing curve on a laptop.
I'm curious if anyone has any experiance or thoughts on this. Sounds like a fun/ useful option to me.
