My Stage 2 motor has long tube race headers with a 3" x pipe to 2.5" inlet/outlet Dynomax Longer polished turbo type mufflers. I am not happy with the sound and question the flow. Is there a muffler that works well with the 455 and sounds mean? Thanks!:Brow:

dynomax is a fine muffler & a lot of guys on this site use them . if u want loud then look to flowmaster .

The Dynomax muffler flows very well, but does cut down the sound quite a bit. If you want the best performing muffler it is also a Walker product - the Race Magnum muffler, excellent flow and a healthy sound, but not as tinny as a Flowmaster, plus it flows considerably better than Flowmasters

I would stay away from the Flowmasters. They sound good with some engines, but not a Big Buick. I hate mine. I have 3'' FM's on mine and have been unhappy since I got them. Like Dave said, they are very "tinny"....at least on my car. Mine are an older model, not "Delta Flow", but my cousin has a '67 Camaro with a SB Chevy:shock: ....anyway, his new Flowmasters sound really good.

Flowmasters are fine for SB Chevys and Fords but are not developed with Big Block Buicks in mind.

    Just my thoughts:grin:

No headers on my car. Crossover to the Flowmasters and out the N25. I get compliments often. I've tried all the others and like the flowmaster's sound the best. Yes, it's a 455 car.

I have FlowMasters on the 65 and think they sound great.
Had 3 1/2" FlowMaster Race mufflers on my Custom with a 455, thought they sounded awesome :Do No: I just picked up 3" Stainless Steel FlowMasters for my newest 71. I like them, but thats my opinion

I have a collector back custom exhaust. It's 2.5" pipe with 3" muffler. He streched the pipe to fit. Flows great and sounds awesome.

Well I went ahead and installed the Flowmaster series 40 Race mufflers. I am pleased with the sound, not as loud as regular series 40 and no highway drone. The performance is at least as good seat of the pants, and maybe feels a little better.:Do No: Now I have to decide if I want to install my Chuck Nuytten 850 and risk a total retune. I am told the carb flows close to 950. I may throw it on at Norwalk in a couple weeks. Thanks for all the opinions!:)
