Thought I'd pass this along as many of us use these in our 2 1/2 systems. My car developed a loud rattle at Martin, which we finally surmised was a muffler. It was, had it changed before York and solved the problem. It's a Dynomax 17749 and an inner baffle had loosened up and was rattling around. These are the non-welded cheaper type (expensive by the time you remove and weld a new one in. Still like the sound, looks, etc. of these long bodied stock appearing mufflers, so staying with them. If the other one develops the same, I may reconsider this. It's had very little use since it was installed in 2002. Only at Pure Stock and FAST events, no street driving. Surprised it went out so soon. OOOOOOOoooooohhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! Almost forgot the legendary Olds highjack pic!!!!!
What in the world is that carou: Holy smokes, someones drinking to much of there own home brewed moonshine:eek2:
wheres the milk crate step to get up into that 4x4 i dont understand how thats looks good to someone it doenst even fit in a garage thats not made for suv
Dave, besides the olds demo pic, I am wondering about my Dynomax mufflers, as may have the same feeling, I have 2 more as spares in the dungeon, so will have to check it out, they aren't the long ones tho, just the shortles. RV
I had this same problem on my 69 with the 2.5" 17743 mufflers. Walker has a lifetime warranty. Contact them and they will tell you how to get a replacement without a reciept. I was able to get my replacements through Advance Auto. Dave
Even my 15 yo daughter says "its not a monster truck" My 13 yo son says he lost iq points looking at it.................
I think I'm going to need some more "Shine" to get that awful thing out of my head. Or maybe a case of Arrogant Bastard Ale....oh the pain..the pain...where's the vomit smiley??????:Brow:
Thanks for the tip, Dave. I just put 17748's on my 68, hope they'll hold up. They sure look nice under there, with a new TA exh system:
Dave, had the exact same thing happen to me as well. Walker Super Dynomax 3" mufflers. I forget the exact part number. I remember it having a lot of 7s in it though  baffle loosened up inside. Not much mileage on it either. Sounded almost like I had a rod knock. Wierd. Replaced the one and no trouble since. Maybe it was a bad run of mufflers?
Yes, I think your right. Walker is an OE manufacturer. The saying, "they dont make em like they used to" comes to mind. never had a problem with my reproduction Gardiner mufflers :TU:
