Well, Stockton Wheel got my new rims here in 10 days, not the three weeks they originally said. Finally, a vendor that does what he promises, and then some. They're putting on the wheels tonight....325/50R15 DRag Radials. I'll let everyone know what happens tomorrow. Lon Bauer will hopefully be able to come over the weekend and take some pics so everyone can see how they fit, or (gulp) don't fit. Wish me luck.
Stockton wheel Iwas more than happy with Stockton wheel too. When I get my digital camera I'll take pics of the 15x14 Buick ralleys they did for me. Pat:TU:
OK, mounted a tire on the rim and put in under. It's got over an inch on the inside but only about a 1/32" to the fender well, vveerrryyy close. The tires will fit fine, I just need to get rims with a 5-1/2" backspacing. I am putting the rims up for sale. I paid $410 for them. I will sell them for $400, including shipping to your door. Tire was only mounted, not even balanced. If I can't sell them, I'll just end up ebaying the tires and getting skinnier ones. If someone had a 26" tall tire, these would be great. My tire is 28". I guess I could cut the fender well lip and get the clearance I need, but I'd rather not. If you think you're interested, please let me know soon. I don't want to miss Norwalk because of this little 1/2" oops. Thanks. Phil
It seems like the 5 1/2" backspacing is the key figure on getting big wheels and tires on 68-72 GS, everytime I here a recommendation for rear backspacing that's the figure that comes up. I want to go with the new 17x9 forged Cragar but it's got 6" of B.S. I suppose that with a little to much you could always use a spacer...
Wow!! I've been waiting to here how you made out with those tires, Looks like you did something similar to what I did. Ordered stuff and kept your fingers crossed. Been there, done that! It's a real hassle and one you won't forget. I'm still waiting for the weather to break to try out my new Hoosier Pro's on the street. Good Luck to ya Phil and Happy Motoring:TU:
