Here's a few pics of my new ride.... Now please be gentle with me as you all look her over and identify all the things that I'll need to do to move her closer to factory original over time.

Bought from the 3rd owner. Frame-on resto about 12 years ago. Paint and interior still look pretty good. The black was cleared so it's not the correct satin finish but it should be easy to keep clean.

Now I just need to get her home in FLorida. Currently sitting in my buddy's garage in Baltimore. I'm totally thrilled!!

Wonder if it's my old X? If so, I owned it in the 70s, then it made it's way to Florida and the last I heard it was in Maryland. If you want to PM me the VIN I can tell you along with "The rest of the story"!

    My QQ "find" story

Someone asked how I found the car......

I had an X way back in high school and was working on restorint it. Not enough time or money so sold it. Now 25 years later I could KICK myself!

Anyhow, a neighbor mentioned going to the local car/bike nite and I went along since I had not been around the car scene for over 20 years. That was a BIG mistake because I got the bug to get a car, not just any car, but a GSX just like the one I used to have.

Wnet home and got on the web. Found this site, registered, and then posted in the "Cars Wanted." Got a couple of leads on clones and was actually considering one. Then I received an email from the seller mentioning was going to sell the car "next week." He mentioned a price and I asked for pics and VIN.

Seemed like it could be real but I was cautious and doubtful. Flew to Baltimore and stayed the night with friends. We got up on a Saturday and drove almost 3 hours to see the car.

Now before I went up the first time I did as much research as I could to educate myself as to what to look for. I also contacted Duane Heckman who is AWESOME and offered to help me review the car over the phone.

Duane was VERY helpful and told me to bring a flashlight, an inspection mirror, and a magnifying glass. He said to call him when I was looking the car over. He then told me to go look at certain areas of the car (NOT telling what to look for so he wouldn't influence what I "thought" I was seeing) and tell him what I saw.

Now Duane is EXTREMELY knowledgable about the cars, so I was holding my breath every time I described what I was seeing. I had him on speakerphone with my cell phone and my 2 buddies and I looked over everything. We even put the car on a lift to check out the frame and everything under the car.

We did find a piece of paper under the passenger front seat. Removed the seat and read it to Duane. He decoded it over the phone and verified it as one of the many paper documents and it included GSX specific codes.

Duane confirmed that all the areas he had us check were in fact original GSX items, but cautioned that the ONLY way to truly tell was to contact Wayne Roberts.

We agreed on price (his asking) and I we wrote up a sales agreement contigent upon verification with Wayne Roberts. Wayne called me on Christams morning and confirmed.

So, this community is TRULY amazing and was the source for finding my new car. That's my story!

    Rob

ps here's a pic of the papaer from under the passenger front seat!

    Decoding?

    Duane,

Any chance I could get you to email me the "decoded" explaination of the paper we found under the passengers seat? I remember you went through it while we were on the phone, but I didn't write it down at that time. :Dou:

    Thanks!

    Rob

ps. I have a list of some interior otems I need. Can I send it to you to see what you can supply?

Hi Duane, my name is Paul Vilser and I saw Rob's photo of that sheet and it looks similar to one I found under my seat. It even has the same handwriting and black grease pencil oval mark as Rob's. I have an unrestored 70 QQ Stage 1 4 speed GSX that I bought in 1990. I have the verification that it is genuine from Wayne Roberts.

If it's not too much trouble, can also you let me know what the info means?

I really appreciate your help if you can. Thanks, Paul

    Guys,
I can either PM you the info or you can call me and I will give you the info over the phone. Your call.

I also wouldn't mind getting copies of your Wayne Roberts info for my files, fair is fair.
