Hello I have a 430 and last week I overheated really badly. up to the point of the engine making wierd noises. now I had it towed home and three days later it wont start up. I noticed the spark plug wire boot were it goes to the plug is sort of melted. And it doesnt seem like it getting a spark could I have burned out my coil? its wierd cause it almost started right away when I put on a new belt and filled the coolant.

I dont know what to think any help would be very appreciated thanks alot, willy

An engine needs 2 things to start, spark, and fuel. Take a look down the throat of the carb while opening the throttle quickly. You should see 2 streams of gas shooting into the primary side of the carb. Crank the engine for a few seconds before you try this to make sure the fuel pump has filled the carb.
Then pull off a spark plug lead at the plug, and position it close to a metal portion of the engine. Crank the motor and look for a spark. If you got the motor hot enough, you may have burned a wire or two. Check everything for heat damage, and replace if necessary.

Make that "fresh fuel" as I'm learning with my alleged POS Sears blower. It runs fine on ether! These little engines sure can be finicky.

Yeah, my sears blower was hard to start too! Turns out the
cyl. head/bore was loose and leaking off compression. Now it starts ALOT easier.
