How do you make an elcamino cool? By putting a Buick engine in it.
    Nice:TU:

In the process of ordering my new driveshaft. The 40 year old stock shafts need to be retired when we start adding more HP than they could imagine when they were made. Glad nothing else was hurt.

:Smarty: It's not so much power that causes drive shafts to break unless you snap one on the starting line. The most common factor that eats up stock and H/P drive shafts is known as critical speed or drive shaft rpms. Stock have a much lower speed rating and with the changing of higher gear ratios, running higher rpms, and faster speeds causes these drive shafts to hit that critical speed or even exceed it. When that's done it causes the drive shaft to flex in the middle and the rest is carnage. I broke one on a chassis dyno a month after my car return to the street after a 4.5yr body of resto. Broke the trans case, pinion flange, exhaust, floors, and hurt the trust bearing in the motor. Glad to hear you where running a loop. One of the cheapest and smartest investments you can have on the street or strip.

ok i found another case, a local shop will do the parts swap for 300, scince i have over 1400 in this one with less than a 100 miles on it. Question is , is this something i could do myself i heard 400 are easy and scince nothing will be tore down i/e clutch packs n stuff or should i just pay the local shop the 300?

Whatever the cause I am putting in a new driveshaft. Going with 1350 universals and redoing my loop. I am willing to learn from other peoples stuff blowing up... that shaft is just ugly.

If you shallow stage, meaning you just barely light the "stage" bulbs you will go faster. The best way to do this is "bump" the car into the stage beam using the brakes. It might help get a little more ET out of it.

Ok justa quick question, got new d shaft installed 3.5" x.083 , recased tranny got it to track last nite every pass was a 12.2 at 107mph what I am wondering is why my speed dropped to 107 mph when before it twisted the shaft my 12.2's were at 111 mph and my 12.1's were 113mph. The drive shaft dia is 1" bigger that wouldnt effect times would it ? I also stagged it as suggested in previous post.only thing i added scince last run was bigger d shaft, loop, and rear sway bar.

same ET with lower MPH is usually because of installing a higher stall torque converter. Sorry no help here. I am puzzled as well.:Do No:
