    Hello All,

It has been some time since I was active in this forum (and mostly lurked in the shadows when I was) but I am back in the game looking for comments!

    My setup:

    -1980 gbody

-corporate 8.5" rear (buick) spooled with 3.43 gears,
    275/60/15 MT drag Radials

-turbo 350 tranny w/ shift kit,
stock converter (~1700?) from the car (was a v8 car originally)

-stock 850 carb, but went to 76 jets with 49 rods, secondaries are CT rods i think.

    -1973 455 block (stock bore & rotating ass'y)

-upgraded to HEI w/ MSD module and altered advance weights/springs (initial 8* - 34* all in by 2500rpm, no vacuum adv)

-1969 430 heads (Not big port) w/ stock 455 rockers off the '73 smog heads. slight machine shop work, cleaned, checked for cracks, seats, etc. stock sized valves

-Poston full length headers and 3" exhaust w/ FM super 40's and a H crossover

Just ran a 13.9 at 97mph at the track and know she has more in her!!!

The plan is probably converter (2500?) and cam (ta212?)....

Just looking for some advice or comments!

    Thanks
    Devon

I would think the stock converter is holding you back alot.....post all increments of your pass....ie 60', 660', mph ect...

was thinking of putting a 455 engine in my 66 skylark, some of the items listed in your post are items i iwll need to do to get the horsepower i want. i am not looking to race, but looking to tear up a few mopar boys on the street.

Next time out, if you can, open up the headers. The FM's are restrictive in my opinion even with big exhaust. Peace, Mike D.

I hadnt been to the track in over 2 years, and didnt get very many runs in, but it was reasonably consistant

    60' - 2.082
    330 - 5.835
    1/8 - 8.949 @ 78.45mph
    1000 - 11.672
    1/4 - 13.988 @ 97.15

I know the converter is holding me back, but unsure how far i should go with it.
I know all the companies will offer advice, but would like to hear some real world somewhat unbiased opinions.
I don't plan on reving too high (now shift ~4500) with the stock bottom end, even when i do put in a decent set of higher comp lugs with a mild rebuild (future plan) I want to make as much power as i can with a nice streetable ride.

The numbers aren't too impressive on paper, but the seat still tells a pretty good story (especially fun with a set of street tires on) I think everyone should have at least one 455.

Never tried to uncork the exhaust, the plan was to go 3" and never think about it again (no extra flange and its pretty close to the pavement to hang). Its worth a try... she does sound nice with open headers! You loose any of the scavenging effect benefits tho..?

    How high on the converter?
How agressive with the cam if i stay with iron heads?

Might have to stage the upgrades, converter + t350 buildup seems in order before i go inside.....

    Thanks everyone
