My 79' Buick Electra 225

  1. I had bought this car about 6 months ago and really enjoyed how it rode and how it looked. When I got enough money I decided to start redoing everything. So far I have got a th400 with a B&M Stage 2 shift kit, rebuilt the entire motor with a nice comp camshaft and highperformance lifters and pistons. I had also bought a 350 stage 1 intake from TA Performance which I was very impressed with their work, and a great 600 cfm edelbrock performer. I only have a few photos right now but will post a video and more pictures once I get the car back from the exhaust shop which I am getting dual exhaust running from exhaust manifolds which sucks and flowmaster super 40s mufllers put on. I havent put any complete motor pictures on but I will asap. There is a picture of my car and the motor and motor and tranny together. The last picture is of the old motor that is not how it looks I will post how it looks soon.

  5. That is a very nice car you got their. I really enjoy both the four door and two door versions of the electra. What kind of motor do you have in it? Is it the buick 350 x motor? Do you know what other air boxes fit in the 79 buick because I am wanting to take the ac out.

The car came with a Buick 350 X coded engine which I rebuilt and proceded to wipe a couple of lobes out of the cam during break in.I have another engine to put in it but I have to swap heads and cam on that one too, since this is my hotrod it will wait until I get some time to mess with it again(I don't know when).Eventually I will be installing a stout 455 in the car, that's the plan anyway.

I don't know that you will find an A/C delete box for this car,if that is what you are after.Maybe one can make a cover plate out of AL using the box as a template.I'm hoping to be removing mine but want to replace it with a compact aftermarket unit in order to unclutter my engine bay.Big luxo car like this has to have A/C,in my opinion.

I love both of those cars. Very nice

  8. Hectic, thats what i want to do is try and find an aftermarket a/c unit so my motor doesnt look so cluttered and when you get the motor in your electra you should send me some pictures because it is such a nice car and I would love to see it done up.

  9. Thanks for the comment, I love my electra and cant wait till its up and running, I just got the dual exhaust done on it with some super 44 mufflers

  10. Some new pictures of my 79 electra, its almost done all I have to do is change the valve covers gaskets to cork gasket because stupid engine shop put rubber valve cover gaskets which always leak usually. Then I have to put my tach in the car.. I would have done it today when I put the phantom series autometer temp and oil pressure gauges but couldnt find a bracket for the tach (rpm). Then I can start cruisin around and getting some miles on this car!

Looking good,'77-'79 big Buicks are,for the most part, looked over.Great cars with 12" factory disc brakes and 10 bolt, bolt in rears, some came with Buick mills to boot.Best looking cars for those years if you asked me(and I was an ogling teenager at the dealers back then).Nice cars.

  13. oh yeah, the late 70's buicks were boss. Not only a comfortable ride but some good torque and horsepower to go along to!:)
