Any heating and A/C guys live in nothern MD? The house unit is not that old and still has a full charge. The fan comes (on the outside unit) on but the compressor doesn't. This problem is taken me away from fun stuff :3gears: , Help!!! AL.
Might be the starter/capacitor for the motor....... seems like our goes bad about every 2-3 years here in the shop. That will keep the pump motor from running. Mike
a/c problems Mike, I did check for power at the cap and saw power at all the connections going from ground, AL.
turn main power off to the A/C unit and set your meter to ohms scale. check for continuity between the three compressor leads at the compressor itself if possible. also feel the compressor with your hand and see if it is hot to the touch. it is possible that your compressor is out on a thermal safety. if it is you will have open line between 2 of your compressor terminals.
a/c problems The compressor I'm sure will be cool because it has not cut on. If possable PM me a contact number and I will give more Details, Thanks AL.
Bob, thanks for you super follow up :beer . With your help I think we are on the right track. As per the check out found the capacitor was burned up. What thew me off was the fan side was okay. As you said it was a daul unit (35/5). No one had one so this will be a hot weekend. Thanks Again for your super follow up and help on my A/C problem and will repost after the new capacitor is installed, :beer :TU: AL.
