The General Manager of Greenville Utilities which is not my direct boss had lung cancer for sometime now and last Wednesday the Dr.s at Duke said that there was nothing else they could do, the cancer was in his blood stream. They sent out a memo Friday that he was stepping down from his position to stay at home and then on Sunday at 3:30 he died at home. It was more sudden than anyone thought. My direct boss's wife was his secretary for over 20 years and she took it pretty hard.

I did not know him personally but he did have the final approval to loan me sick time to get through my last two eye surgeries. I work at the operation center on the outskirts of town and he worked in the downtown office.

Attached is a picture of the newer bucket trucks, line trucks and knuckle boom trucks as well as many gas and water dept. trucks.
They formed a tunnel for the funeral procession to drive through.
I thought this was a wonderful idea for someone who gave 37 years of his life to the company and was General Manager for 19 years.

    This scene was very dramitic!

I have never seen anything like it so I thought I would share.

    Jimmy,
Thanks for sharing the photo. I'm sure his family has been left with some idea of the impact he must have had on those around him. Families need to know that Dads who go to work each day are doing more than just earning a paycheck.
    Nice gesture.
