Though I've been a member of the board for a short while now, I just recently was able to go unburry and take photos of my soon to be first project. If everything goes well I'll be bringing her home when the snow melts. I was originially looking for a demo derby car when I ran across someone who just wanted it gone, sounds like she ws headed for the crusher in the spring. It's been parked under an outside tarp kina carport that collapsed in from the weight of the snow. Thankfully the support that collapsed in the front missed anything important in the engin, but the middle support did a number in the roof of the car.

With help of a friend and a good 3 hours of shoveling, pushing and praying we were able to remove all of the snow from the "roof" of the carport. Since this is winter in Alaska by the time we managed to get the snow off the roof darkness was falling rapidly so the pictures she was able to get weren't great. With it now unburied I hope to go back next week and get a good look at the motor, tranny and body work that needs done. The guy is telling me it has a 300 small block and a powerglide tranny in it currently. Dispide that it's going to need ALOT of TLC, she's my first project and I'm looking forward to getting her home. My friend fratically operated the camera a/ while I was working on the snow removial and I've included a few. I'm always open for ideas and suggestions as this is going to be a huge learning curve for me!

I cant vote for any of them because you should put a 350 Buick or 455 Buick in it. I really like the crack free steering wheel! If you decide to up grade to a different steering wheel let me know! I just landed in Anchorge for work tonite and you do have some snow!
nice find:beer it looks like one heck of a projectou: undrestand what its going to cost to get it worthy.4-5k:laugh: and then we will talk about the motor:laugh:
I know she's going to be expensive to get up an going - but I'm not trying to do it over night. I want to take my time and do it right. The reason I was considering going with a chevy engin/tranny is beacuse when you drag you usually break things and I wanted something I could easily find parts for. Buick motors and trannys are a tricky find up here and I've had a hard time finding anyone locally who can even tell me about these engins let alone parts. Alaska is one big back yard, but trying to find parts, or just about anything when shopping, can be a huge challenge. Many companies still won't even ship to us up here.
Hell, With that logic put a Ford/Olds/Pontiac in it. Just to spite the Chevy guys. Once had the oppertunity to pick up a 69 Camaro RS/SS roller (completly done, concurs correct) $10,000. The wife said $10,000 for a car with no motor, hell no. But I was about to drop a 331 into my 5.0 Mustang. That would have looked nice in the triple black Camaro. :Brow: Just my .02 Michael
First Project or Fist? Try to keep her as original as possible. That´s my opinion. I hate the way they ruin the vintage cars on tv with all that electronic crap and 36" rims and crap like that. A ford engine in a GM. No thanks!
Of the 3 choices I said keep the Buick. Anybody can do a chevy! (And most do) But a bigger Buick would be cool too! Even a ford or mopar would be cooler than the common chevy, imho
always remember it is your vehicle. it is wise to ask for ideas. but in the end it is your money. build the vehicle the best way that makes you happy. jim
